Leo & Satan NewGrounds profile: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE
A lot of people had imaginary friends growing up, but not that many found comfort in Satan when they were just a kid. Unlike Leo whose Best Friend is Satan and helps him out in all sorts of situations, like Algebra. Even though at times Satan can lose his temper and morph into a hulking levitation of rage he still manages to be there for Leo when he needs him most.
Mondo Media - Baman & Piderman Alex Butera Website: HERE Mondo Media: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE
No this isn't a Typo this is adventures of Baman and Piderman. Mondo Media has produced one of the most hilariously stupid webseries I will probably ever see and I'm not ashamed to admit I love it to pieces.
I hate to describe what makes this so enjoyable, maybe its the sheer magnitude of the stupidity but the idea that Baman gets around by rolling everywhere and Piderman kinda just slinks around on the ground pulling himself along with his web sling is just down right hilarious to me. Their childish innocent voices probably factor in their somewhere too.
Hiimdaisy Persona 4 Comics Fan Dubbed Hiimdaisy LiveJournal: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE
If you didn't know by now the Midnight Channel is something I kind of borrowed from the Awesome Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 video game on the PS2. It's a Japanese RPG about these kids finding a new World through Televisions and trying to solve a murder mystery in the sleepy town of Inoba.
The idea of the Midnight Channel is that if you stare into a turned off Television set at the stroke of Midnight on a rainy night your soul mate supposedly appears on the screen.
Webcomic artist Hiimdaisy posts long and thorough webcomics about video games she's played and enjoyed. She's done previous comics on Metal Gear Solid 1, 2 & 3, Legend of Zelda and Phoenix Wright Attorney at Law. These webcomics are greatly acclaimed in the gaming community online and have received millions of views due to the comics being featured on various gaming sites like Joystiq and Destructoid.
Weebl's Stuff - Catface Website: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE NewGrounds Profile: HERE
Jonathan "Jonti" Picking aka Mr Weebl is a famous internet personality and flash animator. He has created quite a few successful flash shows and videos and even has made 4 albums of music. His wide reach of talent has granted him quite a large internet following from his videos which have featured heavily on NewGrounds, EbaumsWorld and of course YouTube.
Catface is one of Mr Weebl's latest animated web-series to be created. It is about a Levitating Cat that Speaks English in a cynical and dry manner with a French accent and who has a unnaturally large head. It is written by Jonathan's wife Sarah Darling. Ben Smallman took over animating the series after episode 7 but Jonathan still voices Catface.
The Greasy Moose Website: HERE NewGrounds Profile: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE MySpace Music Profile: HERE
Greasy Moose is a emerging flash team from Australia, making wacky and surreal flash movies filled with a variety of strange and unusual characters. Greasy Moose started out as a Web-comic by the creative founder Chris Voigt but due to the short attention span of most of the browsing internet audience against pictures that don't move he pursued a different path down the road to animation.
In 2005 he registered the Greasy moose name and website and also formed a band with his friend Liam Cass, also aptly called Greasy Moose. Now the entire project of Music and Flash animation is a combined collaboration. It seems Greasy moose is a hobby of both men as they pump out content just for their fans and for themselves, It's endearing and quite refreshing to see no big cash grab or shameless pandering to get a bigger audience.
The Lazer Collection - Dominic Fera Website: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE
Ah Filler, yes even this blog contains filler posts like this. There really is no hiding the fact that posting animations based on a Meme from like 4 years ago is really scrapping the bottom of the barrel here. Well for the very few that have no idea what I'm talking about the Lazer collection created by Dominic Fera some 4 years ago is based off the massive internet meme at the time called "Shoop Da Whoop" aka, IMMA FIRIN' MAH LAZER!!!.
FilmCow Animations Website: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE Video Podcast: HERE
Drugs, so much drugs would need to be taken to come up with the kind of stuff FilmCow constantly pump out. These animated shorts are mind-bendingly idiotic. So ridiculous that millions of people all over the World have fallen in love with animated shorts like Charlie the Unicorn. Honestly you'd have to be tripping major balls to think about talking Unicorns travelling to a Mountain made of Candy.
But Filmcow's creation of Charlie the Unicorn is credit to Jason Steele who also voices Charlie. The original video has gained a status befitting that of the Star Wars kid, the video has been viewed over 60 Million times and still rising over various websites including Newgrounds, YouTube, Google video and various other sources. It was even featured in an Episode of Jeopardy.
How It Should Have Ended Website: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE
Movie endings are possibly the most important part of a movie, it's the ending that ultimately defines most people's opinions of an entire film. Even if the movie was great a sub-par, anticlimactic ending can ruin just about anyone's overall opinion of a Movie. I'd probably go out of my way and say 'Signs' was a good movie with a really poor ending, I mean really... The Aliens were weak to Water? Why the hell try and invade a planet where 70% of the freaking surface is water?
Anyway...
How It Should've Ended is animated web-series that takes the initiative to improve upon major motion picture endings. Not that all these movies needed a better ending but each animated short is a fresh parody take off which humorously points inconsistencies and abnormalities in the existing plot or sometimes coming up with a much easier and less dramatic or dangerous solution to the movie.
Arin "Egoraptor" Hanson Website: HERE Newgrounds Profile: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE ------- Awesome Series YouTube Channel: HERE
Chances are you've probably stumbled across some of Egoraptor's work on the internet, in fact I've already referenced him twice in previous entries on the blog. Ego has been making Flash movies since 2002, However his first big hit online was the audio track he released of "DBZ in a nutshell" back in 2001. Eventually it was made into a flash movie which is what inspired Ego to go in animation and voice acting.
Egoraptor is now a brilliantly talented and very influential flash animator and voice actor on the internet. He is most famous for his AWESOME series of flash animated cartoons which parodies various mainstream video games using Ego's unique art style and over the top voice overs. He also made the popular Girl Chan in Paradise series which is a parody anime series and is far too ridiculous to write up an accurate report on what goes on in it.
Kung Fu Jimmy Chow Heavy.com Website: HERE Youtube Channel: HERE
Japanese culture is always fascinating, I mean there is just a lot of messed up stuff that comes from that nation. I guess that's what happens when you drop a few bloody A-Bombs on a island. Japanese anime is notorious for it's ridiculous, far-fetch and sometimes even perverse content but frankly it's all those qualities that make it such an interesting medium in the first place.
Kung Fu Jimmy Chow is a discontinued anime webseries about a Kung Fu Master working menial jobs at a Mall as he tries to continue his life after the death of his Kung Fu Master. (A strange concept sure) His main nemesis and the one that prevents him from ever getting any work done is the one person who killed his Master, 'The Purple Lady' and her near endless supply of Purple Ninja Henchmen. The series follows Jimmy's quest to exact revenge onto the Purple Lady for killing his master while trying to dodge face biting monkeys and the dreaded purple nurple attack which of course is his one true weakness.
Wacky Game Jokez, 4 Kidz! Newgrounds Profile: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE
Max Gilardi is the brains behind HotDiggityDemon animations, he creates, animates and voices animated shorts on the internet for sites like Newgrounds, Youtube and the Escapist.
One of his most popular animated webseries is Wacky Game Jokez, 4 Kidz. It's about a Street Thug named Mickey the Dick how is captured by an evil corporation named VGV (Video Game Videos) and is forced to write, film and direct a video game broadcast on the internet. Yes that sounds absurd and ridiculous but the series works because of the high quality of the animation and interesting characters involved.
Dick Figures Mondo media Website: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE
Mondo media are famous for their internationally acclaimed animated series Happy Tree friends and have been working on a new series called Dick Figures. it's a simple concept about two stick figure friends called Red and Blue who are best friends and generally go on adventures together.
Tales of Mere Existence Website: HERE YouTube Channel: HERE
Some say that Life is Art, well I guess that is true in a sense but it can also be rather bleak, mundane and dreary. Movies and Television sensationalise everything to make you think that everyday is a new adventure when the sad truth is that most people spend their lives in a routine and have surrendered the idea of "Living" to just surviving.
'Tales of Mere Existence' is a cartoon project by Levni Yilmaz in which Lev animates all the small, abstract and mundane thoughts that pass through some people (Mainly Lev) whilst going through Life. Going onto his 5th year of the Project Lev releases these videos over the course of the year telling and animating his unique stories and lessons.
It's a fantastic character piece of a man struggling with his own identity in a matchstick society or whatever deep metaphor is needed here to explain his individually adequately. Just watch it, it's a lot more charming and relatable then most videos on the internet.
Cyanide & Happiness Website (Comics): HERE Website (Shorts): HERE
Cyanide and Happiness are infamous on the internet for having some of the most depraved, offensive, disturbing and of course hilarious comic strips to ever grace the cyber world. The group over at Explosm in charge of Cyanide and Happiness must be rather large to come up with such creative and contrasting stories on a weekly basis, in fact they've been doing this for 2004 and seem to get more and more popular as the years roll on.
The simplistic art style of stick figures takes nothing away from the superb and brilliant writing content exhibited in the comic strips. I'd go out of my way and say that I yet to see a web comic online as consistently funny as Cyanide & Happiness.
Coupled with it's comic success Explosm have been able to distribute real comics which are generally just a collection of strips which have been selected to be published into a book. Buy it on Amazon
Explosm have also been able to create a series of shorts on the comics. My current favourite is the Man vs. Wild Bear Grylls parody which was voiced by one of my favourite internet voice over artist's in Egoraptor.
Zero Punctuation Video Game Reviews Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw, a highly respected game critic on the internet. His fast-paced, scathing and cynical reviews on Modern games in his Zero Punctuation internet review series is the stuff of legend. Listening to Yahtzee go on a tirade about the blights of gaming is like listening to someone pick apart a work of art, extracting it with a pair of tweezers, holding it up to a magnifying glass and showing it to a room of primary school children and saying, "This is Wrong"
Fast, Edgey, Dry and various other adjectives that would adequately describe a Beer fuelled 4wd his overly harsh reviews truly defines his job as a Game Critic. He isn't paid to like games, he paid to critique them in a somewhat demeaning and often resentful manner. It rarely seems like Yahtzee even enjoys playing these games but I guess that either means he is really good at what he does or he really does suffer for his art.
Here are some of my favourite reviews that Yahtzee has posted
Zero Punctuation Sims 3 review
Zero Punctuation Epic Mickey Review
Zero Punctuation review of Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside story
